Welcome to 6th grade Science!
What will we learn in 6th grade science?
This year, will include an integrated science curriculum consisting of The Nature of Science, Physical Science, Earth/Space Science, and Life Science.
Science textbooks will not be issued this year. However, textbooks are available for checkout from my class.
All projects and experiments will take place in the classroom or Science Lab. There will be an in depth study of "The Eye" and "The Circulatory System" which will include dissections of a cow's eye and a pig's heart. Below are some of the units of study:
* Nature of Science/Scientific Method
* Acids and Bases
* Chemical and Physical properties and changes
* Energy/Forces/Motion
* Earth’s Layers/Volcanoes/Earthquakes
* Genetics/ Natural Selections /Selective Breeding
* Animal Behavior/Structural Adaptation
* Plant and Animal Organs
* Earth's History
* Objects in the Universe

Grades
Grades will come from daily classwork, science labs, quizzes, tests, journal writings, and projects.
Test dates are announced approximately one week in advance.
Assignments are written on the board for your student to copy into their Assignment Planner. The Assignment Planner is also a powerful, daily method of communication between the family and the school. Student grades will be posted on eSchool at least every two weeks.
